Lauren Sánchez Bezos, newly married to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, is preparing for another emotional milestone as her daughter Ella heads off to college later this year.
Sánchez, a former TV correspondent and mother of three, admitted during a recent interview that while she felt fine when her sons left home, her daughter’s departure has been far more difficult.
She joked about rebranding the term “empty nester” into something more positive, like “bird launcher,” while celebrating Ella’s artistic talents and future college journey.
Her reflections come after already experiencing the bittersweet moment of sending her son Evan to the University of Miami last August.
Sánchez shared heartfelt posts about the transition, describing her pride and heartbreak as she watched him settle into his dorm.
Despite the challenges of letting go, she and Bezos carefully timed their honeymoon to ensure they were present for Evan’s move, underscoring the importance of family even amid their glamorous lifestyle.
Meanwhile, the couple has been settling into their new life in Florida, where Bezos has invested heavily in property on Indian Creek Island, known as “Billionaire Bunker.”
He has purchased multiple mansions worth tens of millions of dollars, with plans to raze two of them to build a custom marital compound. Until then, they are living in a lavishly renovated Mediterranean-style mansion complete with exotic landscaping and a private gym.
This Florida move marks a shift from Bezos’ longtime base in Seattle, though he still maintains an impressive portfolio of homes across the U.S., including estates in Washington, D.C., New York City, and Beverly Hills.
