Actress Minnie Driver has opened up about her unconventional relationship with fiancé Addison O’Dea, revealing that the couple does not live together despite being engaged since 2019.
Speaking on The Spirit Daughter podcast, the Emily in Paris star explained that their arrangement often spending time in different places has been “so freeing” for their seven-year romance.
Driver credited O’Dea with helping her embrace a lifestyle outside traditional expectations, saying their differences are not seen as obstacles but as part of the natural flow of their relationship.
Driver, who relocated back to London in 2024 at the request of her son Henry, reflected on how her years as a single mother shaped her approach to family life.
She explained that she created routines that worked best for her household, without pressure to conform to conventional standards.
Now, she appreciates O’Dea’s ability to support her emotional depth, describing him as the only partner who has been able to handle her intensity without feeling drained. Their bond, she said, thrives on mutual acceptance of individuality and flexibility.
The actress also shared how her relationship with O’Dea deepened after he helped her during the 2018 Malibu wildfires, an experience that brought them closer before their romance officially began.
While unconventional, Driver insists their setup works seamlessly, allowing both to maintain independence while nurturing their connection.
She compared their arrangement to other celebrity couples who experimented with separate living spaces, noting that for her and O’Dea, the choice has brought ease rather than discomfort.
For Driver, the relationship reflects a broader philosophy of embracing authenticity and rejecting rigid expectations.
