 GOVERNMENT OF RIVERS STATE   PRESS STATEMENT  MY DECISION TO WITHDRAW FROM THE RIVERS  STATE  GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARIES  Fellow Rivers People, After deep reflection and extensive consultations with my family, friends, and associates, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the APC gubernatorial primaries. I do so with a full heart and with a firm commitment to support whoever emerges as the candidate of our great party. Leadership is ultimately about sacrifice. There comes a time when personal ambition must yield to the greater good of the people. Rivers State is bigger than any individual, and at this critical moment, the peace, stability, and unity of our dear state must take precedence over every personal interest.  NESREA Seals Bond Chemicals Industries Limited for Environmental Violations


The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has sealed off Bond Chemicals Industries Limited in Oyo State following concerns over violations of the National Environmental Regulations. 


According to Nwamaka Ejiofor Assistant Director (Press)compliance inspection carried out by officials from the South West Zonal Office revealed that the facility had no functional Effluent Treatment Plant and was discharging untreated wastewater with offensive odour directly into the environment in contravention of applicable environmental standards and regulations .


After due notification, NESREA in exercise of its statutory mandate, consequently sealed the facility to prevent further environmental degradation and to safeguard public health.


The Director General of NESREA Prof. Innocent Barikor reiterates that all industry operators are required to comply fully with environmental regulations including the installation and proper operation of pollution control equipment, stating that the Agency will continue to intensify its monitoring and enforcement activities nationwide and will not hesitate to apply appropriate sanctions against any facility found to be in violation.
