PRESS STATEMENT  THOSE OPPOSED TO THE RESOLUTION OF OPL 245 PURSUING SELFISH AND NOT PATRIOTIC INTERESTS PRESS RELEASE BY THE ATTORNEY-GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION AND MINISTER OF JUSTICE The attention of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice has been drawn to media reports attributed to the Atiku Abubakar Media Office, which contain misrepresentations concerning the recent resolution of disputes associated with the OPL 245 oil block. In that publication, the former Vice-President sought to downplay what is, by all objective standards, a landmark achievement of the current administration in brokering the settlement of a protracted dispute spanning nearly three decades. It will be recalled that the block was originally awarded to Malabu Oil & Gas Ltd (Malabu) in April 1998, revoked in July 2001, and subsequently allocated to Shell Nigeria Ultra-Deep Limited (SNUD) in May 2002. These actions gave rise to extensive litigation and public hearings before ...

Ondo okada riders declare support for Tinubu’s re-election

‎Over 2,000 commercial motorcycle operators across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State on Tuesday trooped out to declare their support for the reelection of President Bola Tinubu ahead 2027.

The commercial motorcyclists, under the auspices of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria, also expressed their readiness to work for the President to have a landslide victory in the forthcoming presidential poll in the Sunshine State.

Speaking at the endorsement, which took place at the office of the Asiwaju Mandate Group in Akure, the state chairman of ACOMORAN, Mr. Akinlolu Olumonrin, said the group’s decision followed a thorough assessment of the President’s performance nationwide.

‎According to him,  members of the association were convinced that Tinubu remained the best candidate to sustain ongoing developmental programmes and policies across the country.

He said, ‎“We have looked into everything he has done in Nigeria and discovered he is the only person who can continue the job so that the programme will not stop.

‎”We tried a lot to make ACOMORAN visible in Ondo State; we wrote many letters and even sued the government, but we did not achieve anything. We discovered that if we go through the President, then it may come to reality, that is why we decided to fully support Tinubu for the second time in Nigeria.”

‎The ACOMORAN chairman also urged members to remain law-abiding, stressing the need for discipline among operators to safeguard their reputation and ensure public trust.

‎Olumonrin, however, appealed to the Federal Government to address the rising cost of fuel and the country’s general economic hardship, noting that transport operators were among the worst affected.

‎”We believe there is hope and that things will improve very soon, but we want the President to help find solutions to the hike in prices,” he urged.

‎In his remarks at the ceremony, the Director-General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, Olumuyiwa Asagunla, said the endorsement by the commercial motorcyclists riders would further boost the chances of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state ahead the general election next year.

‎He commended the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his interventions, noting that various groups had continued to align with the party in recent months.
