 Barack Obama 'confident' America will have a female president 'sometime soon': 'It’ll become normalized' Barack Obama recently expressed optimism about America’s political future, saying he believes the country will elect a female president “sometime soon.”  In an interview with People, the former president explained that just as his own election in 2008 helped normalize the idea of a Black president, he expects that a woman in the Oval Office will eventually be seen as unremarkable.  He noted that once the milestone is reached, public focus will shift to everyday issues like gas prices and policy outcomes rather than the novelty of gender.  PALM SUNDAY TRAGEDY, GUNMEN KILL OVER 20 IN JOS COMMUNITY 


Not fewer than 20 persons have been confirmed dead, while several others sustained injuries following a deadly attack by suspected gunmen in Gari Ya Waye, Angwan Rukuba area of Jos, Plateau State.


The incident occurred on Sunday night, March 29, 2026, coinciding with Palm Sunday celebrations observed by Christians worldwide. Residents said the attack began at about 7:50 p.m., catching the community off guard.


Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen stormed the area and opened fire indiscriminately, triggering chaos and forcing residents to flee for safety.

Several injured victims were said to have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, while families continued to search for missing relatives in the aftermath of the violence.


The exact motive behind the attack remains unclear. 

Security agencies are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.


A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “We heard gunshots everywhere. People were running in different directions. It was terrifying.”


Another local source described the situation as “a night of horror,” adding that the community is still in shock.


Authorities are expected to intensify security in the area as investigations continue.
