  NINE PEOPLE ARRESTED AS CULT CLASH ROCKS BENUE BURIAL CEREMONY  PAt least nine suspected cult members have been arrested after a violent clash disrupted a burial ceremony in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State. The incident reportedly led to the destruction of homes and valuables, with several individuals still unaccounted for. Tension gripped parts of Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State after a violent clash involving suspected cult groups left properties destroyed and several persons missing. The incident occurred in Abenga, Mbakya, and Mbabur communities during the burial of one Dugeri Terhemen, popularly known as “Black Deal.” According to local sources, the burial ceremony was disrupted by clashes between rival groups, leading to chaos in the affected areas.  PALM SUNDAY TRAGEDY, GUNMEN KILL OVER 20 IN JOS COMMUNITY 


Not fewer than 20 persons have been confirmed dead, while several others sustained injuries following a deadly attack by suspected gunmen in Gari Ya Waye, Angwan Rukuba area of Jos, Plateau State.


The incident occurred on Sunday night, March 29, 2026, coinciding with Palm Sunday celebrations observed by Christians worldwide. Residents said the attack began at about 7:50 p.m., catching the community off guard.


Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen stormed the area and opened fire indiscriminately, triggering chaos and forcing residents to flee for safety.

Several injured victims were said to have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, while families continued to search for missing relatives in the aftermath of the violence.


The exact motive behind the attack remains unclear. 

Security agencies are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.


A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “We heard gunshots everywhere. People were running in different directions. It was terrifying.”


Another local source described the situation as “a night of horror,” adding that the community is still in shock.


Authorities are expected to intensify security in the area as investigations continue.
