 PRESS RELEASE DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND PROBES VIRAL VIDEO ALLEGING ASSAULT OF WOMAN; DELTA STATE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE ORDERS INVESTIGATION The Delta State Police Command is aware of a viral video circulating on X and other social media platforms alleging that some police officers assaulted a woman and subjected her to over forty strokes of cane. The video captures the victim narrating her ordeal. The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command has directed an immediate and thorough investigation into the allegations. Preliminary steps have commenced to verify the circumstances surrounding the incident and to establish the identities of the officers involved. The matter has been referred to the appropriate investigative unit for discreet handling, while efforts are ongoing to ensure that all personnel implicated are identified and brought to account.  PALM SUNDAY TRAGEDY, GUNMEN KILL OVER 20 IN JOS COMMUNITY 


Not fewer than 20 persons have been confirmed dead, while several others sustained injuries following a deadly attack by suspected gunmen in Gari Ya Waye, Angwan Rukuba area of Jos, Plateau State.


The incident occurred on Sunday night, March 29, 2026, coinciding with Palm Sunday celebrations observed by Christians worldwide. Residents said the attack began at about 7:50 p.m., catching the community off guard.


Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen stormed the area and opened fire indiscriminately, triggering chaos and forcing residents to flee for safety.

Several injured victims were said to have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, while families continued to search for missing relatives in the aftermath of the violence.


The exact motive behind the attack remains unclear. 

Security agencies are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.


A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “We heard gunshots everywhere. People were running in different directions. It was terrifying.”


Another local source described the situation as “a night of horror,” adding that the community is still in shock.


Authorities are expected to intensify security in the area as investigations continue.
