 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. Passengers Injured As Kaduna-Abuja Train Reportedly Collides With Another Train


Hundreds of passengers were stranded Monday morning after an Abuja-bound train from Kaduna reportedly collided with another train along the route, prompting an immediate suspension of services.


The accident occurred during the peak morning commute, raising concerns about safety measures and signaling systems on one of Nigeria’s busiest rail corridors.


Witnesses described the impact as a “sudden and violent jolt” that brought both trains to a halt.

"We were moving steadily when there was a loud bang and the train abruptly stopped," one passenger shared on social media. "We later realized we had collided with another train. Everyone is shaken, waiting for official updates."


Another passenger, Sada Malumfashi, said, “Just got off the Kaduna-Abuja train. There was a loud bang, and the train jolted, throwing people around. Several passengers were hit, with many bleeding and seriously injured.”
