Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive.  POLICE BUST KIDNAPPER'S HIDEOUT IN NASARAWA STATE ; RECOVER WEAPONS 


The Nasarawa State Police Command, in its fight against crime has recorded another significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state, as operatives successful bust a kidnapper's den, arrested a suspect, and recovered AK - 47 Rifle.


According to a statement by the command's public relations officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID), Nasarawa State Command, acting on credible intelligence successfully busted the hideout of a notorious kidnapper at Gidan Akuya Village in Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State


It states that, upon sighting the operatives, the criminals attempted to flee the scene but were immediately hunted down by the police leading to the arrest of one Forty Three years old Jibril Yunusa


Meanwhile, a thorough 

 search of the hideout led to the recovery of

one AK-47 rifle

one empty magazine and

one locally fabricated rifle


During interrogation, the suspect confessed to participating in several kidnapping activities within the Keana and Awe axis of the state and has provided useful information to assist ongoing investigations.


In the meantime, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has directed operatives to intensify efforts to track down and arrest the fleeing members of the gang, to ensure that they are brought to justice.
