  FLOOD ALERT: ANAMBRA GOVERNMENT URGES RESIDENTS TO TAKE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES By Maureen Ugwukah The Anambra State Government has issued a flood alert to all residents of the state following a forecast by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET). The forecast listed Anambra as one of the states likely to experience above-normal flooding this year due to its location within the delta belt. The alert was jointly issued by the Ministry of Information and Value Reformation and the Ministry of Environment on September 22. The Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, and the Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, said government is taking proactive steps to mitigate the impact of the anticipated flooding. They, however, called on Ndi Anambra to prioritise personal and collective safety throughout the rainy season.  POLICE FOIL CULT INITIATION, ARREST TWO SUSPECTS IN UYO, AKWA IBOM STATE


The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another operational breakthrough in its sustained crackdown on cultism and related criminal activities across the State.


A Statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John indicates that the operatives of the Command, acting on credible intelligence,  mobilized to an uncompleted building located off Oron Road, Uyo, where members of the notorious Red Skin Confraternity were reportedly conducting initiation activities.


On sighting the Police patrol team, the suspects took to their heels in a desperate attempt to evade arrest.


The operatives, however, engaged them in a hot chase, which led to the arrest of two suspects, Clement  Edem  and Isaac  Henry 


Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects are active members of the Red Skin Confraternity and were participating in an initiation exercise before the operation disrupted their activities. 


The suspects have provided useful information, including the names of other members of the cult group currently at large.


The Command reiterates its zero tolerance for cultism and warns all criminal elements to desist from such unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.


The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, assures residents, of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
