 Trump threatens Iran with major strikes and warns of potential control of oil infrastructure as regional conflict escalates  President Donald Trump said Thursday that the United States would strike Iran “VERY HARD TONIGHT,” escalating already heightened tensions as both sides continue exchanging attacks across the region. In a social media post, Trump also threatened to “assume total control” of Iran’s oil and gas infrastructure, including the key Kharg Island export terminal, describing potential action “in the not too distant future.” The warning came as U.S. and Iranian forces traded fire for a second straight day, marking the third major escalation in less than a week following earlier clashes involving Iran, Israel, and U.S. forces stationed across multiple countries. Pope Leo describes Middle East war as a ‘scandal’ to humanity

  

 Pope Leo on Sunday condemned the ongoing war in the Middle East, calling the death and suffering it has caused a “scandal to the whole human family” and urging an immediate ceasefire. Speaking during his weekly Angelus prayer at St. Peter’s Square, the pope said he follows the conflict, along with other war-torn regions, with “dismay.”

He emphasized the moral responsibility to respond to the plight of civilians caught in the fighting. “We cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering of so many people, the defenseless victims of these conflicts. What hurts them hurts the whole of humanity,” Leo said. He renewed his call for prayer and action to end hostilities and create a path toward lasting peace.
