Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence.  Rosamund Pike makes rare comments about ending her engagement to director Joe Wright: Felt like 'a big adult failure'

Rosamund Pike has offered a candid reflection on her past relationship with Pride and Prejudice director Joe Wright, which lasted from 2005 to 2008.

Speaking on the podcast How to Fail with Elizabeth Day, the 47-year-old actress described their romance as a “huge love affair” filled with adventure and passion, but admitted the breakup was devastating.

She recalled how public speculation at the time fueled rumors of scandal, though she emphasized the split was far less dramatic than people imagined.

Pike explained that the end of the engagement left her feeling like she had failed at a key milestone, particularly during the first holiday season afterward when she returned to her parents’ home.

She said it felt like “a big adult failure,” not only because she hadn’t achieved the expected template of marriage, but also because she was still in love with someone who no longer loved her.

Addressing reports that invitations had already been sent out for their planned wedding in Italy, Pike clarified that they had only asked guests to save the date, dismissing the speculation as press exaggeration.

Ultimately, Pike said the breakup gave her a new sense of freedom, helping her realize there are many different ways a woman’s life and love can look.

Since 2009, she has been in a long-term relationship with businessman Robie Uniacke, with whom she shares two sons, Solo and Atom.

Pike explained that she chose to mark commitment by starting a family rather than having a wedding, noting that as someone often in the spotlight, she didn’t feel the need for a ceremony.

Her reflections highlight how personal setbacks can lead to reimagining life’s templates and embracing alternative paths to fulfillment.
