“SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE REMAINS GOVERNMENT-FUNDED FACILITY” - LASG

The Lagos State Government on Thursday reiterated that the recently reconstructed Senator Oluremi Tinubu (SOT) Primary Health Centre (PHC) remains a government-funded facility.

Speaking with the media after a monitoring tour of the facility situated at Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, stated that the facility was renovated to ensure that world-class medical services are accessible to residents in the community.

"The facility is still funded by the Lagos State government and was renovated to improve access to high-quality healthcare service delivery in the community. I want to inform you all that some of the services are free and other services that involve payment are highly subsidised", she said.

She explained that the District III team found out that after the renovation of the facility last year,  some residents believed the facility had been privatised resulting in low patronage by members of the community.

She stated that the officials' visit to the facility was the last of the 67 PHCs in District III  for quarterly monitoring, to ensure that no PHC is left behind in providing high-quality health care service delivery to the people in the state which is one of the mandates of Mr. Governor.

The Permanent Secretary said each time the District III team goes out for monitoring, it ensures PHCs across District III still maintain the required high standard healthcare service delivery in the state, and the team reviews all the price lists, ensuring there is transparency as well as accountability among others

She stated further that quality healthcare service delivery remains a core pillar of the THEMES Plus Agenda of the government as such the government is intensifying its efforts to ensure all residents are covered in the Lagos State Health Insurance (LASHMA) Scheme, ILERA EKO.

Dr. Adeleke emphasised that the scheme aims at ensuring that no resident is denied life-saving medical care because of paucity of funds, saying SOT PHC is one of the facilities that provides the ILERA EKO health care service delivery.

She highlighted that the following services are available at the facility: General Outpatient services, Emergency Services, Immunisation and Child Welfare Services, Ante-Natal Care and Delivery Services, Family Planning Services, Laboratory Services and Pharmaceutical Services.
