SOUTH-EAST YOUTH COALITION VOWS TO RESIST ELECTORAL MANIPULATION AHEAD OF 2027 POLLS. (PHOTO).

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has issued a strong warning against any form of rigging or manipulation in the 2027 general elections, declaring that the group and the people of the South-East will resist such attempts through lawful and collective means.

In a statement released on Sunday and signed by its President General, Goodluck Ibem, COSEYL emphasized that electoral outcomes must be determined solely by verifiable performance and track records, not by propaganda, inducements, or institutional interference.

“Any attempt—by any individual, political party, or institution—to tamper with the electoral process will be met with lawful, collective, and absolute resistance by the people,” the statement read.

The youth coalition asserted that the days of stolen votes and imposed mandates are over, pointing to the growing political awareness, vigilance, and readiness among the people of the region to defend their choices within the bounds of the law.

“Only leaders who have demonstrated credible performance, accountability, and genuine commitment to the welfare of the people will earn the mandate to lead,” Ibem stated. “Those who have used public office to oppress, neglect, or exploit the people must prepare to be voted out decisively.”

COSEYL urged all eligible voters across the South-East to immediately collect and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the PVC as “the most powerful tool for shaping our future and securing accountable leadership.”

The group further appealed to the electorate to remain peaceful, united, and vigilant before, during, and after the elections, while rejecting any form of inducement, intimidation, or compromise of their votes.

“Let it be known: power resides with the people. That is the true essence of democracy, and we will defend it,” the statement declared.

COSEYL reaffirmed its commitment to credible elections, good governance, and the overall interest of the South-East people, positioning itself as a key voice advocating for transparency and accountability in the build-up to 2027.
