A 200-level student of the Department of English at Taraba State University (TSU) has allegedly been assaulted by campus security personnel over her dressing, triggering concern and calls for investigation within the institution.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday at the university’s preliminary campus. It has since stirred reactions among students and staff, with many questioning the conduct of security officials on campus.
According to sources, the student was returning to her hostel when she was stopped by security personnel over what they described as indecent dressing.
The student reportedly explained that she was not heading for lectures but going back to her hostel. However, the situation allegedly escalated into a confrontation.
Witnesses claimed the security officials physically assaulted her during the altercation, leaving her injured. She was said to have been rushed to a nearby chemist for immediate treatment.
A student who witnessed the incident said, “She tried to explain herself, but things got out of hand quickly.”
As of the time of filing this report, university authorities has not yet issue an official statement, while students continue to demand a thorough investigation.
