Kenyan lawyers boycott courts over alleged judicial corruption Kenyan lawyers staged a nationwide boycott of court proceedings on Wednesday to protest alleged judicial corruption and chronic delays. Cases in the East African nation take an average of two years to conclude, according to official records, with lawyers blaming graft and systemic inefficiencies. "The court boycott is going on in courts across the country, with many lawyers heeding the call," Charles Kanjama, the president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), told reporters. However, the judiciary said that accountability mechanisms already exist through the Judicial Service Commission and the Office of the Judiciary Ombudsman, where complaints against judges and judicial officers can be lodged and investigated, according to a statement released prior to the boycott.  Susan Sarandon says she's been blacklisted from Hollywood for recent Gaza remarks

Susan Sarandon says her outspoken advocacy for Gaza has had a major impact on her career. At a press conference in Barcelona ahead of the Goya Awards, the 77‑year‑old actress revealed she was dropped by her agency in 2023 after marching and calling for a ceasefire, making it “impossible” for her to work in Hollywood.

She explained that since then, she has only been able to find acting opportunities in Europe, including a play at London’s Old Vic and a recent film in Italy.

Sarandon admitted that even abroad, casting has been difficult. She recalled that a director in Italy was warned not to hire her, though he ultimately did.

For now, she says she specializes in independent films and smaller projects outside the U.S. She contrasted the censorship she feels in America with Spain’s more vocal opposition to Israel’s actions in Gaza, praising Spanish leaders and actors like Javier Bardem for their solidarity.

Although she has appeared in a few major studio projects such as Netflix’s The Six Triple Eight and Nonnas, Sarandon noted those were filmed before her agency dropped her.

She acknowledged past controversy over remarks she made at a pro‑Palestine rally, for which she later apologized, but emphasized that her activism has left her sidelined in Hollywood.
