Man brutalises his pregnant wife in Anambra  In another case of domestic violence, a pregnant woman was brutally beaten by her husband in Ichi, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State. The mother of three identified as Chinelo Francis, from Ebonyi State, said trouble began when she requested money from her husband, Peter, to prepare food.  According to the young woman, she had already bought vegetable with the profit she made from her shop. Peter, also from Ebonyi, claimed he didn’t make money that day and took the children home.  He returned to her shop at around 8:00 PM and insisted she close up and come home with him.  She refused, explaining that the time was when she typically made most of her sales.  Later, she closed up her shop, went home at 9:30 PM, prepared the children for bed, and retired. The interviewer urged her to go straight to the point, asking when the assault occurred. The woman said it happened that night.  The attack left...

“Thank You for Showing Me Life Still Has Meaning,” Warwick Davis Honors Late Wife and Mystery Woman at OBE Ceremony

Warwick Davis was joined by his children and a mystery woman as he received his OBE from The Prince of Wales on Wednesday, celebrating his contributions to drama and charity.

The Harry Potter star, 56, was accompanied by his daughter Annabelle, 28, and son Harrison, 23, as he accepted the honour, while his unnamed companion watched with him.

The actor has previously paid tribute to a person he calls ‘Sponge’ for helping him “to laugh and to love again” after the death of his wife Samantha in 2024. Speaking during his BAFTA Film Fellowship acceptance last year, Warwick said, “Special mention should go to Sponge, you know who you are. Thank you for showing me that life can still have meaning.”

Warwick offered a glimpse of Sponge’s character on The Jonathan Ross Show, joking, “Sponge very much reminds me of Kerry,” referring to Daisy May Cooper’s character, Kerry Mucklowe, in the comedy series This Country.

During his acceptance speech, Davis also honoured his late wife, Samantha, who passed away at age 53 due to cardiac arrest following complications from surgery.

He reflected on her unwavering support throughout his career, saying, “She would always say ‘get out there and do it.’

She was great at networking and always talking to producers to get me the work in the next job. Very supportive. You need that in this business.”

Warwick spoke candidly about the challenges of acting, describing it as “quite a lonely career” and noting that a solid foundation at home is essential.

“Since then, life has been pretty tough for me, but thanks to the support of our wonderful children Annabelle and Harrison, I’ve been able to continue working and engaging in life,” he said, as his children were visibly emotional in the audience.

Samantha Davis had faced serious health issues prior to her passing, including sepsis in 2019 that required intensive care.

Warwick dedicated his BAFTA Fellowship to her memory, saying, “Above all I would like to dedicate and thank my wonderful wife Sammy who died almost a year ago.

She was always so supportive of my career and encouraged me to grab every opportunity with both hands.”
