PRESS RELEASE May 8, 2026 CERTIFIED TRUE COPY OF SUPREME COURT JUDGMENT IN CIRCULATION NOT OFFICIALLY RELEASED, BUT CONTENTS FURTHER AFFIRM ABDULRAHMAN AND ANYANWU’S LEADERSHIP OF THE PDP 1. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has become aware of the circulation of a purported Certified True Copy (CTC) of the recent Supreme Court judgment relating to matters concerning the party. 2. The PDP wishes to categorically state that the document currently in circulation was not officially released by the Supreme Court. A careful examination of the purported CTC reveals that it falls short of the established requirements for proper certification of official court documents. The pages were neither duly certified, stamped, nor signed by any authorized court officer in accordance with legally recognized procedures. 3.  TRANSITION OF LEADERSHIP: MURITALA HANDS OVER TO NEW ACCOUNTANT GENERAL AT STATE TREASURY OFFICE


A smooth transition of leadership took place at the Office of the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Abayomi Oluyomi, as the retiring Accountant-General/Permanent Secretary, State Treasury Office, Dr Abiodun Shefiu Muritala, formally handed over to the newly appointed Accountant-General/Permanent Secretary, State Treasury Office, Dr. Muyiwa John Adetola.


The brief, but significant ceremony, marked the continuity of a legacy of professionalism, accountability, and prudent financial management in the State’s Public Service. 


Dr. Muritala was commended for his dedication, integrity, and contributions to strengthening the financial architecture of the State during his tenure.


In his remarks, Dr. Adetola expressed appreciation for the solid foundation laid by his predecessor and also reaffirmed his commitment to upholding transparency, fiscal discipline, accountability and prudency in the management of the State Treasury.


The STO wishes the retiring Accountant-General success in his future endeavours and the new Accountant-General a productive and impactful tenure in his service to the State.
