  FLOOD ALERT: ANAMBRA GOVERNMENT URGES RESIDENTS TO TAKE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES By Maureen Ugwukah The Anambra State Government has issued a flood alert to all residents of the state following a forecast by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET). The forecast listed Anambra as one of the states likely to experience above-normal flooding this year due to its location within the delta belt. The alert was jointly issued by the Ministry of Information and Value Reformation and the Ministry of Environment on September 22. The Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, and the Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, said government is taking proactive steps to mitigate the impact of the anticipated flooding. They, however, called on Ndi Anambra to prioritise personal and collective safety throughout the rainy season.  Troops Kill Two Bandits During Ransom Collection in Kaduna


Two suspected bandits were killed while attempting to collect ransom in Katambi Forest, located in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.


The incident occurred on Saturday evening when security operatives tracked the suspects to their hideout during a planned exchange involving food supplies and ransom.


Upon arrival, the troops strategically positioned themselves and opened fire on two bandits who came forward to collect the items.


This led to a gun battle between the operatives and other members of the group, some of whom reportedly fled with gunshot injuries.


During the operation, four kidnapped victims including a nursing mother and a four-year-old child, were successfully rescued and later reunited with their families.


A local community leader confirmed the incident and praised the security forces for their efforts, while also urging them to intensify operations to rescue others still in captivity, particularly victims abducted from Janjala community.
