 ‘You will be arrested’ — NYSC DG warns corps members over cybercrime offences Olakunle Nafiu, director-general (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), says serving corps members are not exempted from Nigeria’s cybercrime law during their mandatory national service year. Nafiu spoke in Abuja on Thursday during an interview, where he noted that corps members are citizens and are bound by the constitution and other extant laws regulating online conduct, cyber activities, and public behaviour. Nafiu noted that allegations of cyberbullying involving corps members would be investigated and handled by relevant law enforcement agencies in line with the law.

 Troops Recovers Stolen Vehicle During Search and Rescue Operation in Abia 


Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Eastern Sanity have recovered a stolen vehicle during a search and rescue operation in Abia State, as efforts intensify to track down suspected kidnappers operating in the area.


The operation, carried out by personnel of 145 Battalion (Rear), took place within the Uratta axis and the Umuchima Forest following credible intelligence.


According to a statement issued by the Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Captain Mazinho Attah, troops conducted a coordinated operation in the Umuchima Forest, leading to the recovery of a Toyota Camry earlier stolen from a victim identified as Mr. Bright Ochinachi.


Investigations revealed that the victim was abducted along the Umuahia–Aba Road on March 15, 2026, but later managed to escape from his captors.

The Army described the recovery of the vehicle as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating within the area.


Troops have since sustained aggressive patrols and intelligence-driven operations aimed at locating and apprehending the kidnappers responsible for the incident.


The recovered vehicle is currently in military custody and is expected to be handed over to its rightful owner upon the conclusion of necessary investigations.


The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring residents of continued operations to rid the state of criminal elements.


Members of the public were also urged to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid ongoing operations.
