The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District IV, Mr. Olufemi Bamidele Paseda, today, received Students of Gbaja Girls Senior High School who emerged winners at the 74th WAEC Day Debate Competition amongst public and private schools in Lagos State.
The visiting students, accompanied by the school Principal and teachers, proudly presented their award to Mr. Paseda in his office after securing the 1st position in the highly competitive debate, which featured participation from several public and private schools across the state.
Welcoming the team, the TG/PS commended the students for their outstanding performance, eloquence and intellectual depth displayed during the competition. He described their victory as a remarkable achievement that reflects dedication, discipline and academic excellence.
Mr. Paseda said, “I am highly impressed by your brilliance and confidence. Emerging as winners in such a prestigious competition is no small feat. You have not only made your school proud but have also set a commendable standard for other students to emulate. This victory is a testament to the quality of preparation, teamwork and determination you possess.”
He further encouraged the students to remain focused and continue to strive for excellence in their academic and extracurricular pursuits, noting that debate competitions help to build critical thinking, communication skills and self-confidence.
The TG/PS also appreciated the Principal and Teachers for their commitment to nurturing the students’ talents and preparing them to compete at such a high level.
Responding on behalf of the team, the School Principal, Mrs. Oyefeso Adenike Oluwaseun expressed gratitude to the TG/PS for the warm reception and words of encouragement, stating that the recognition would further motivate the students to achieve greater heights.
