 APC PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL PRESS STATEMENT ATIKU MUST EXPLAIN THE LEGAL AND FISCAL BASIS OF HIS PETROL SUBSIDY PROPOSAL At his press conference in Abuja on Friday, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar reiterated his proposed  “production subsidy” for locally refined petrol, which he said would reduce pump prices. He went further to ask President Bola Tinubu to slash the cost of diesel and petrol at the pump. That proposal raises important legal, fiscal and practical questions that he must answer. Section 205(1) of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 provides that unrestricted free-market conditions shall determine wholesale and retail prices of petroleum products. The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, in a statement on Saturday, explained that it neither fixes pump prices nor issues administrative price templates, except where the statutory conditions for intervention are met.  2027: Shehu Sani Obtains APC Senatorial Nomination Forms For Kaduna Central


Former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has secured the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the Kaduna Central Senatorial District seat.


The development confirms his official entry into the race ahead of the 2027 elections, as political activities intensify within the ruling party. 


Sani, a former civil rights activist who previously served in the Senate, remains a notable figure in Nigeria’s political space.


The APC had earlier announced that the sale of nomination forms would run from April 25 to May 2, 2026, while submission of completed forms will close on May 4, 2026. 


Screening of aspirants is slated for May 6 to May 9 across various elective positions.


Primary elections are scheduled to commence on May 15, 2026, beginning with the House of Representatives, and will conclude with the presidential primaries on May 23, 2026.
