 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. Man killed, another injured in early morning double stabbing in Hell’s Kitchen, police say

  

 A man is dead, and another is injured following a double stabbing in Hell’s Kitchen early Thursday morning.

Authorities said officers responded just before 5 a.m. to an area outside a homeless shelter on Ninth Avenue near West 52nd Street. When they arrived, they found one man suffering from a chest wound and another with a stab wound to the stomach.

Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital. The man who was stabbed in the chest was later pronounced dead, while the second victim is reported to be in stable condition.

Police said the suspect fled the scene on a bicycle. The motive for the attack remains unclear.

The area was cordoned off with police tape as investigators worked at the scene through the morning.
