 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8.  Abia State Government Reacts To The Death Of A Trailer Driver After He Was Shot By A Soldier 

The Government of Abia State expresses deep sorrow over the tragic and untimely death of Mr. Kelechi Ejiofor, the trailer driver who lost his life following a fatal shooting incident involving a soldier at the Uratta Timber Market, Aba, a few days ago.


This heartbreaking development has cast a shadow of grief across the state. The Government extends its sincerest condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and all those affected by this painful loss.


In response to this incident, the Abia State Government is actively engaging with the Military High Command to ensure a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. 


We wish to assure the family of the deceased and the general public that justice will not only be pursued but will be seen to be done. Any officer found culpable will face the full weight of disciplinary and legal consequences.


The Government urges residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and peaceful as efforts are intensified to get to the root of this unfortunate incident. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, the rule of law, and the fundamental rights of every citizen.
