 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump.  ADC NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL TAKES OVER LEADERSHIP AMID CRISIS


The National Executive Council (NEC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has assumed interim control of the party’s leadership, pending the resolution of ongoing court cases.


The NEC Publicity Secretary, Don Norman Obinna disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja.


He says the NEC is constitutionally empowered to act in such circumstances, stressing that the move is to prevent a leadership vacuum and preserve party unity.


He assures members that the arrangement is temporary and in line with the party’s constitution, urging stakeholders to remain calm and supportive.
