Obosi Councillor Donates Bus to Students, Leads Fight Against Cultism By Chiedu Uche Okoye  Hon. Obichukwu Anyafulu (Zik), Councillor for Obosi ward, has donated a bus to students, who attend schools located in Obosi.  The councillor made the disclosure in an interview with the journalist at his Obosi country home, on July 11. Hon. Anyafulu said that the humanitarian deed he performed for the students was borne out of his belief that education is the cornerstone of national development.  "Education is the bedrock of national development. And only educated people who possess knowledge and skills can drive our developmental initiatives. "Based on that, I don't want students in Obosi to stay at home on school days because their parents cannot give them transportation fares," he said.  He further clarified that the bus would serve the additional purpose of conveying people to churches on Sundays, stating that religion is a tool for moulding the personalities of you...

Amupitan: I had conviction from God before accepting INEC appointment

Joash Amupitan, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), says he had the conviction that God would help before he accepted his appointment to lead the electoral body.

Amupitan spoke in Abuja on Wednesday at the end of tenure and appreciation service organised by the Nigerian Baptist Convention for its outgoing president, Israel Akanji, and his wife, Victoria.

The INEC chairman said he would not have accepted the offer without such a conviction from God, saying, ” the Lord said, ‘Fear not; do not be dismayed.'”

“If I didn’t have the conviction for this job, I would not accept it. But I had a conviction very clearly that… the Lord said, ‘fear not, do not be dismayed.’ He said, ‘I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you.’ I heard this clearly before I accepted this job,” he said.

According to him, God has been on his side since his assumption of office and called for prayers from Nigeria to make the 2027 elections the best ever.

“No matter the storm, no matter the difficulty, God is able to calm every storm. That is what God has been doing,” he said.

“My experience so far as the INEC chairman is that if God does not send you somewhere, do not go there, including the ministry; if God does not send you, do not do it. I cannot do it on my own, but with God on my side, it is possible.

“Continue to pray for Nigeria, continue to pray for us, and continue to pray for me that the 2027 election will be the best ever. I cannot do it on my own, but with the Lord on my side, it is possible, and it is doable
