Two-time WNBA All-Star Angel Reese is being traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream, with Chicago set to receive a 2027 first-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick in return. The teams will also exchange 2028 second-round selections.
Chicago general manager Jeff Pagliocca praised Reese’s contributions, saying she achieved numerous milestones in her first two seasons and has been a dominant force on the court. “We are thankful for her many important contributions to this league and this game, and we know she will continue to have a big impact on the court and beyond,” he said, wishing her success in the next chapter of her career.
Reese, drafted seventh overall by the Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft, made the All-Rookie team in her first season and has led the league in rebounding in both of her first two years. After starting her college career at Maryland, she starred at LSU, leading the Tigers to a national championship in 2023 by defeating a Caitlin Clark-led Iowa team, a matchup that ignited a lasting rivalry that continues in the WNBA.
Despite her individual success, Reese has not experienced similar postseason achievements at the professional level, as Chicago missed the playoffs in both of her seasons. The team underwent a coaching change before the 2025 campaign, but finished with a worse record than Reese’s rookie year.
In 64 career games, Reese is averaging 14.1 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.
