 Court Jails Two for N14.8m Fraud in Maiduguri Justice B.T Zannah of the Borno State High Court sitting in Maiduguri, on Monday, July 13, 2026 convicted and sentenced two to three years imprisonment. The convicts are: Babagana Bukar and Hauwa Chabri.  The convicts were arraigned on Monday, July 13, 2026 by the Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a separate one -count charge for the offence of criminal misappropriation to the tune of N14,800,000.00 (Fourteen  Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira). The charge against Bukar reads: "That you, Babagana Bukar sometimes in 2025 at Maiduguri, Borno State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, dishonestly misappropriated and converted to your own use the aggregate sum of N8,800,000.00 (Eight Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira)  money belonging to Bunu Gambo Liman, being amount given to you through Babakura Umar and Bello Adamu for the supplies of 100 bags of IRS...

 Cause of Death Revealed for Former Home Alone House Owner After His Body Was Found in Nature Reserve


Authorities have confirmed the cause of d@th of John Abendshien, a former owner of the famous house featured in Home Alone.


The 79-year-old was found on the evening of April 22 at a nature preserve near Lake Forest, Illinois. Local officials say a preliminary autopsy determined he d!ed from asphyxia in a manner described as self-inflicted.


According to the coroner’s office, the incident is being treated as isolated, with no danger posed to the public. However, police in Lake Forest Police Department are still reviewing the circumstances surrounding the case.


Abendshien was known for previously owning the well-known property in Winnetka, Illinois that gained global attention after being featured in the holiday classic. 


He even documented his experience of living in the home during the film’s production years ago.


His passing comes shortly after legal troubles. Days before he was found, authorities had carried out a search at his residence following multiple cyber tips linked to alleged possession of illegal materials involving minors. 


Investigators reported that electronic devices were seized during that operation.


He was later charged with several felony counts related to those allegations and released on bail under specific conditions on April 17, less than a week before his body was discovered.
