Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  Don't heat up the polity, Gov. Diri charges media aides 

‎...appreciates them for promoting govt. policies 

‎Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri has charged his new media aides to apply caution in their engagements as political activities begin.

‎Governor Diri gave the charge at a one-day Review Meeting/media training for government new media aides, which was held at the Banquet Hall in Yenagoa.

‎While appreciating the media aides for their efforts in promoting government policies and programs over the years, the governor represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, however, advised them on the need to maintain decorum and play by the rules.

‎Governor Diri stated that the unfriendly arguments and political friction among Government new media aides on the social media space because of aspirants was disturbing, urging them to maintain sanity.

‎Also, Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs. Ebiuwou Koku Obiyai stated that as media aides, they should take directives from authorities before making posts in order to avoid sanctions.

‎In a communique that was read at the end of the training, media aides passed a vote of confidence on Governor Douye Diri for his developmental strides in the state, as well as Dr. Samuel Kolawole Oredipe, Director-General of the New Media team, for his leadership of the team.


At the Review Meeting with the theme: Public Governance, Political Engagements, And The Media: The Nexus, two different resource persons, Mr. Klem Ofuokwu and Dr. Richard Ogbe, gave training on “Managing Government Media and Information In A Political Era and Political Contents:The media laws, ethics and professionalism.
