Sandra Bullock has stepped into the Instagram world for the first time, ending years of staying away from social media with an unexpected debut on Tuesday, April 14.
The Oscar winning actress, 61, quickly drew attention after joining the platform, gaining millions of followers within a day. By the 24 hour mark, her account had already surged to about 4.3 million followers, despite only one post being live.
That first post was a short clip showing Bullock pointing toward a blender, which instantly switches on as if by magic. She captioned it simply, “Midnight somewhere…”
The post immediately sparked conversation, with many linking the playful moment to her return in the upcoming sequel Practical Magic 2, where she reprises her role as Sally Owens.
Once on the platform, Bullock did not stay quiet for long. She quickly began interacting with friends and former co stars, mixing humor with affectionate teasing.
One of her first playful comments was aimed at her The Lost City co star Channing Tatum, after a post claimed he once bought a year’s supply of shirts to avoid doing laundry. Bullock jumped in under the post with, “Of course you did, @channingtatum,” adding a winking emoji.
She also revisited older posts involving actress Joey King, who stars alongside her in Practical Magic 2. Under a photo from a Coldplay concert in London, Bullock wrote, “My blood. Your blood. Our blood. iykyk,” adding a magic wand and red heart emoji.
Bullock’s on screen reunion with Nicole Kidman also found its way into her comments.
Reacting to a behind the scenes clip shared by Kidman showing the two embracing on set, she wrote, “Oh we’re so back,” paired with a red heart emoji. Kidman also starred in the original Practical Magic released in 1998.
She later joined a post from Jennifer Aniston, who had shared a lighthearted clip of her styling Jason Bateman’s hair. Bullock responded in the comments, “Me next mama? Going for a witchy look…”
Aniston had earlier welcomed her friend to the platform through Instagram Stories, writing that “someone we really all love very much just joined Instagram,” marking Bullock’s long awaited arrival in her own low key but playful style.
