 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. The Federal Road Safety Corps (Frsc), Kaduna State Sector Command, Has Launched A Crack Down Against The Dangerous Practice Of Mixed Loading, Following Firm Directives From The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed.


In A Statement Signed By The Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, The Move Is A Sweeping Crackdown On Life-threatening Road Violations. 


The Operation, Resulted In The Interception And Apprehension Of Multiple Articulated Vehicles Found Conveying A Dangerous Combination Of Over 100 Humans Beings, Animals, And Goods Along Critical Corridors During The Ongoing Easter Special Patrol.


The Corps Marshal However, Described Mixed Loading As A Ticking Time Bomb On Nigerian Highways, An Egregious Violation That Converts Vehicles Into Rolling Death Traps.
