 Somali PM calls on Somaliland to cut Israel ties, urges reconciliation Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has called on Somaliland’s leadership to cut ties with Israel and to resolve disputes with the federal government through dialogue. Barre said relations among Somalis should be addressed through talks rather than confrontation, in remarks during a ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the establishment of North East State. In December 2025, Israel announced mutual recognition with Somaliland, a move strongly rejected by the Somali government as a breach of its sovereignty and territorial integrity and criticised by many countries across the world. “Regarding our brothers in Somaliland, I have nothing new to say. GOVERNOR OTTI APPROVES RECONSTITUTION OF ABIA STATE UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT BOARD 


The Governor of Abia State HE Dr. Alex Otti, OFR has approved the reconstitution of the Management Board of the Abia State Teaching Hospital in line with the enabling law establishing the institution. 


The reconstitution is aimed at strengthening governance, improving service delivery, and enhancing the quality of medical training and healthcare services provided by the hospital.


The newly reconstituted Board comprises the following:


1. Dr. Ezinne Chinyere Benjamin-Kalu – Chairman

2. Prof. Nneka Chioma Okoronkwo – Chief Medical Director⁠


3. Dr. Kelechi Omende – Member


4. Dr. Temple Nwosu – Member


5. Dr. Patrick Umezurike – Member


6. Prof. P. E. N. Onyemachi – Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee 


7. Prof. Gazie Okpara – Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Senate Representative


8. Prof. Chuks Kamanu– Provost, College of Medical Sciences


9. Dr. Mrs. Ifeyinwa Blossom Uma Kalu - P/S, Health Ministry 


10. Mrs. Ihuoma Nwagbara – Director of Administration / Secretary to the Board

11. ⁠Dr. Odochi Ewurum- NMA


His Excellency congratulates the Chairman and Members of the Board and charges them to justify the confidence reposed in them by working assiduously to reposition the Teaching Hospital as a centre of excellence in healthcare delivery, medical training, and research.


The appointments take immediate effect.
