Former Catholic Knight arrested over alleged ritual cleansing exercise in Nnewi Vigilantes in Nnewi have arrested Sir James Louis Okoye, a former Catholic Knight of St John International, who reportedly renounced Christianity during the official opening of Our Lady of Assumpta Catholic Church, Nnewi in January this year over non-recognition of late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. Okoye was arrested after he was seen on Saturday wearing a red dress with fresh palm fronds between his lips, with a bell in hand, performing what he believed was the ritual cleansing of Nnewi land on the streets of the town. Okoye gained popularity in January, during the official consecration of the Nnewi Catholic Cathedral, where he decried the non-recognition Late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who he believed built the cathedral to almost completion before his death.  JAMB EXAMINATION: ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND DEPLOYS SIXTY SAFE SCHOOL OPERATIVES TO MONITOR PROCESS, ENSURE SAFETY AND ORDERLINESS


The Anambra State Police Command has deployed sixty (60) Safe School Operatives across designated centres to monitor the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations scheduled to hold from 15th to 26th April 2026, in order to ensure safety, security, and orderliness throughout the exercise.


The deployment with the Operational base located in the respective eight (8) Police Area Command in the State is coordinated by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Harrison Oruruo, psc, forms part of the Command’s proactive measures under the Safe School Initiative aimed at providing a secure environment for candidates, invigilators, and examination officials, while preventing any form of malpractice, disruption, or security breach.


The Command reassures the public of its continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urges candidates and other stakeholders to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel on duty.
