 Farina, Illinois- Shane Lother, a 38-year-old high school teacher has been arrested for grooming and traveling to meet a minor. He remains at the Marion County Jail in Salem, Illinois. The main district that released the statement below is located in Kinmundy and the school Lother was employed at is located in Farina.  The South Central Community Unit School District 401 has released that they have learned an employee from the South Central high School in Farina, Illinois, was arrested today, May 8th. The employee was arrested for having alleged inappropriate relations with a student. Kinmundy police were assisted by the Salem Police while arresting the employee.  The school district shared that they learned about the allegations on February 26th of this year, and immediately upon learning of the allegations, an investigation was started with authorities as well as DCFS becoming involved.  JAMB EXAMINATION: ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND DEPLOYS SIXTY SAFE SCHOOL OPERATIVES TO MONITOR PROCESS, ENSURE SAFETY AND ORDERLINESS


The Anambra State Police Command has deployed sixty (60) Safe School Operatives across designated centres to monitor the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations scheduled to hold from 15th to 26th April 2026, in order to ensure safety, security, and orderliness throughout the exercise.


The deployment with the Operational base located in the respective eight (8) Police Area Command in the State is coordinated by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Harrison Oruruo, psc, forms part of the Command’s proactive measures under the Safe School Initiative aimed at providing a secure environment for candidates, invigilators, and examination officials, while preventing any form of malpractice, disruption, or security breach.


The Command reassures the public of its continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urges candidates and other stakeholders to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel on duty.
