 Julia Roberts’ brother publicly apologizes for saying he made her famous, says rift rumors are untrue

Eric Roberts is putting an end to long-standing speculation about a supposed feud with his sister Julia Roberts. Speaking on April 14, the actor dismissed the idea of any deep rift, saying the narrative was never true. 

He emphasized that while they may have normal family disagreements, they respect and care for each other. 

Roberts praised Julia as both a talented actress and a “wonderful human,” making clear that the rumors of animosity have been exaggerated.

The speculation has lingered for years, partly because the siblings rarely speak about each other publicly, which fueled curiosity. 

Eric explained that they avoid discussing one another in interviews because it often gets twisted into a competition, even though they were never vying for the same roles. 

He stressed that any issues between them are simply day-to-day disagreements, not evidence of a long-running feud.

Roberts’ comments carry added weight given his past missteps. In 2018, he made headlines for claiming Julia and niece Emma Roberts owed their careers to him, a remark he later admitted was self-serving and untrue. 

In his 2024 memoir Runaway Train, he apologized directly to Julia, calling the statement “asinine.” 

His latest remarks, praising her career and character, appear to be a deliberate effort to close the chapter on years of speculation and reaffirm their bond as siblings.
