 Mirra Andreeva wins French Open at 19, becomes youngest women’s champion since Monica Seles   Russian tennis star Mirra Andreeva completed a breakout run at the French Open on Saturday, defeating Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 to capture her first Grand Slam title at age 19. Andreeva, who was already regarded as a prodigy after emerging on the WTA Tour as a teenager, became the youngest women’s singles champion since Monica Seles, who was 18 when she won her third straight French Open in 1992. Ranked eighth in the world, she controlled the final in Paris, taking command after dropping just a few early games.  Kaduna Easter Church Attack: 31 Hostages Rescued, 5 Dead In Swift Military Operation


Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully thwarted a terrorist attack in Ariko Village, located in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, rescuing 31 civilians abducted during an Easter church service.


The incident took place at an ECWA Church during Easter celebrations, triggering a distress call that prompted an immediate military response. 


Acting quickly and with support from local residents, the troops engaged the attackers in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon the hostages.


Among those rescued was one injured victim, now receiving medical care.

Sadly, five individuals lost their lives in the attack, and their bodies were recovered at the scene.


Reports also indicated that the fleeing attackers may have suffered heavy casualties, as blood trails were seen along their escape paths.


In the aftermath, the Nigerian Army has intensified efforts to pursue the attackers, deploying additional personnel to strengthen security, prevent further incidents, and locate any remaining captives.


The Army reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity, vowing to continue coordinated operations with other security agencies and local communities.


Residents have also been encouraged to remain vigilant and support security efforts by sharing timely and reliable information, emphasizing that community cooperation is key to lasting peace.
