 Setting the Records Straight on  Citizen Asar Michael Sesugh's  Death The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  considered it imperative to clear the air on some recent incidents at its Makurdi Zonal Directorate,  Benue State.   Operatives of the Directorate arrested 26 suspected cyber fraudsters on April 28,  2026.  They were profiled and kept in custody for further investigations after obtaining a Remand Order at a Magistrate Court.  Shortly after their arrest,  specifically on May 4,  2026,  three of the suspects sought permission to use the lavatory at the Directorate's  Holding Facility and were permitted.   They cashed in on the opportunity,  broke the toilet's roof and escaped from detention.  Several efforts were made to re- arrest them to no avail.  Kaduna Easter Church Attack: 31 Hostages Rescued, 5 Dead In Swift Military Operation


Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully thwarted a terrorist attack in Ariko Village, located in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, rescuing 31 civilians abducted during an Easter church service.


The incident took place at an ECWA Church during Easter celebrations, triggering a distress call that prompted an immediate military response. 


Acting quickly and with support from local residents, the troops engaged the attackers in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon the hostages.


Among those rescued was one injured victim, now receiving medical care.

Sadly, five individuals lost their lives in the attack, and their bodies were recovered at the scene.


Reports also indicated that the fleeing attackers may have suffered heavy casualties, as blood trails were seen along their escape paths.


In the aftermath, the Nigerian Army has intensified efforts to pursue the attackers, deploying additional personnel to strengthen security, prevent further incidents, and locate any remaining captives.


The Army reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity, vowing to continue coordinated operations with other security agencies and local communities.


Residents have also been encouraged to remain vigilant and support security efforts by sharing timely and reliable information, emphasizing that community cooperation is key to lasting peace.
