GOVERNMENT OF RIVERS STATE   PRESS STATEMENT  MY DECISION TO WITHDRAW FROM THE RIVERS  STATE  GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARIES  Fellow Rivers People, After deep reflection and extensive consultations with my family, friends, and associates, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the APC gubernatorial primaries. I do so with a full heart and with a firm commitment to support whoever emerges as the candidate of our great party. Leadership is ultimately about sacrifice. LATINO NEW YORKERS FILE CLASS ACTION AGAINST TRUMP ADMINISTRATION OVER ALLEGED RACE-BASED ICE ARRESTS. (PHOTO).

Latino New Yorkers file class action against Trump administration over alleged race-based ICE arrests

A group of Latino New Yorkers has filed a class-action lawsuit against the Trump administration, challenging what they say are “race-based” and “warrantless” immigration arrests by federal agents. The 96-page complaint, filed in the Eastern District of New York, alleges that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is targeting Black and Brown individuals across the state, terrorizing communities and separating families.

The plaintiffs, ranging in age from 19 to 63, claim they were unlawfully stopped, arrested, and later released, and say they live in fear of being detained again because of their ethnicity. The suit seeks to create three classes: those stopped without suspicion, those subjected to discriminatory treatment, and those arrested without warrants. Civil rights organizations, including the New York Civil Liberties Union and Legal Aid Society, are joining in the case, which names the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, and the FBI as defendants. The plaintiffs are requesting a court order to prohibit immigration stops and arrests that are warrantless, suspicionless, or based on race, citing violations of the Fourth and Fifth Amendments.
