Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with the United Mexican States, established on April 14, 1976.
In a statement, the Ministry noted that the five‑decade‑old partnership, founded on respect for sovereignty, non‑interference, and shared commitment to global peace, has remained a stable and mutually beneficial partnerships.
Both countries coordinate closely within the UN and have expanded cooperation in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, education, culture, and technical exchange. Recent efforts focus on economic diplomacy, private-sector engagement, trade diversification, and emerging areas such as renewable energy.
The Nigerian Government acknowledges the role of dialogue, institutional cooperation, and people‑to‑people ties in consolidating this relationship, which reflects shared goals of inclusive growth, sustainable development, and South‑South cooperation.
As Nigeria and Mexico mark this golden jubilee, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to deeper ties through high‑level engagements and strategic cooperation, and congratulates both governments and peoples, expressing confidence in even greater dividends ahead.
