 PRESS RELEASE OPERATION HADIN KAI FOILS MASS ABDUCTION ATTEMPT AT FGGC MONGUNO Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Mobile Force (MOPOL), successfully foiled an attempted mass abduction by ISWAP terrorists at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Monguno, at about 0130 hours (1:30 a.m.) on 19 July 2026. The FGGC facility is currently being utilized by the Borno State Government as temporary hostel accommodation for students of the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno. The terrorists reportedly gained access to the facility with the assistance of suspected collaborators in an attempt to abduct students. Alert security personnel immediately engaged the terrorists with coordinated and overwhelming firepower, effectively stalling their advance with Sector 3 Quick Reaction Force (QRF) immediately reinforcing the school.  Russian drone strike on Nikopol market kills five, injures 19 in latest Ukraine attack

A Russian drone strike on a busy market in Nikopol, Ukraine, killed five people and left at least 19 others injured on Saturday, local officials reported. The victims included three women and two men, while among the injured was a 14-year-old girl. Nikopol, located in southeastern Ukraine just across the Dnipro River from territory currently occupied by Russia, is frequently targeted due to its proximity to the frontlines.

The Ukrainian prosecutor general’s office condemned the attack as “yet another war crime by Russia.” Overnight, the nearby city of Sumy also came under assault, leaving 11 people wounded and damaging residential buildings and utility networks. In Kyiv, a three-story office building was struck, causing a fire on the first floor. Ukrainian forces reported intercepting 260 of the 286 drone strikes launched at the country during the overnight attacks.
