 New UK Prime Minister not the leader Britain needs — Kemi Badenoch UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has congratulated Andy Burnham on becoming Britain’s new prime minister but said while he is “a nice man,” the country needs a leader capable of making difficult decisions rather than “a people pleaser.” In a statement released on Monday on X following Burnham’s assumption of office, Badenoch wished the new prime minister success but vowed to hold his government accountable as Leader of the Opposition. “Today, Britain has a new Prime Minister. I wish Andy Burnham every success. Because we need a Prime Minister and a Government focused on fixing the public’s priorities,” she said.  SENATE APPROVES PRESIDENT TINUBU’S 516 USD LOAN REQUEST


Senate clarifies that  the 516.3 million USD loan request it approved this Wednesday for the federal government is a financial lifeline to  avoid delays in the execution of the Sokoto Badagry superhighway project.


National Assembly Correspondent, Lami Ali reports that this latest loan from the Deutsche Bank AG,  was an alternative to an earlier package sourced from a Bank in the middle east, which Nigeria has been unable to receive due to the Iran war.


Lawmakers while approving the loan expressed optimism that the road would significantly reduce travel time between the North and South of Nigeria thereby enhancing economic activities across the Corridor.


The Sokoto Badagry Super highway covering 1000 kilometers stretches from Illelah in Sokoto State, through Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo, and Ogun states to Badagry in Lagos.


Meanwhile the Senate during the plenary confirmed appointees of President Tinubu among them Lamido Abubakar Yuguda as Deputy Governor of CBN.


Also President Tinubu has communicated the Senate declining assent to the NIMC bill due to structural defects among others.
