 Three de-ad, four coaches affected as Warri-Itakpe train derails The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed the d3ath of three persons following the derailment of the Warri-Itakpe train in Agbor, Delta State. The Corporation added that four coaches left the rail track during the incident which occurred on Monday, June 8, 2026. The Managing Director of NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, said in a statement that the emergency response team and other relevant authorities are currently managing the situation and providing necessary assistance. “The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed a serious train accident involving the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) corridor at Agbor, Delta State,” the statement read. “Rescue and emergency response operations were immediately activated.  South-East Ex-Governors Endorse Tinubu for 2027 Re-election, Inaugurate New Advisory Forum


Former governors from Nigeria’s South-East geopolitical zone have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.


The endorsement came on Tuesday after the ex-governors held a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Lodge in Enugu, where they formally launched a new platform called the **South East Forum of Former Governors**.


According to the group, the forum is intended to function as a **non-partisan advisory body** that will offer guidance and support to the region’s serving governors on critical developmental matters and broader national issues.


Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, who is also a former governor of Ebonyi State, addressed journalists after the meeting and read the communique. He disclosed that the ex-governors reached a unanimous decision to back President Tinubu’s re-election, citing the administration’s ongoing infrastructure projects across the South-East and its policy of inclusive appointments as key factors behind their support.
