NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did.  Suspect in White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting in custody, expected to appear in court Monday

A man accused of opening fire outside the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner is in custody and expected to appear in federal court on Monday.

Authorities allege 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, California, breached security near the Washington, D.C., event Saturday night while carrying a shotgun, handgun, and multiple knives. Gunfire erupted outside the venue shortly before the dinner began, triggering a rapid evacuation that included President Donald Trump and other senior political figures.

Officials said a Secret Service officer was struck during the incident but has since been released from the hospital. No other injuries have been reported. Investigators believe Allen acted alone, and no motive has been determined.

Allen is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in federal court on at least two charges: using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer with a dangerous weapon. Prosecutors have indicated additional charges remain possible as the investigation develops.

Authorities said Allen was not previously known to law enforcement. He was hospitalized after his arrest, though officials have not released details about his condition. Federal investigators are continuing to examine his background and any related activity in California, while stating there is currently no ongoing threat to the public.
