 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump. Reacting to the development, Ciise Aden Abshir, a senior adviser to Somalia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and a former national team captain, described Artan as one of Africa’s most respected referees. “Omar Artan is among Africa’s most respected referees and deserves the support of the entire football community,” Abshir told AFP on Monday.  TRAGEDY IN WAMBA AS GROOM DIES ON WEDDING DAY


A wedding in Wamba Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, ended in heartbreak on April 4, 2026, as Dr. Ayuba Amangut reportedly died in hospital on the very day he was to marry Miss Roseline Adamu.


Family sources said all wedding preparations were complete, with the bride fully dressed and awaiting her groom’s return from the hospital. Tragically, Dr. Amangut did not make it back, succumbing to a brief illness while under medical care.


Relatives described the loss as “devastating,” noting that the young man’s death was sudden and unexpected. “We had everything ready for the wedding. It is hard to accept that he will not be coming home to start life with Roseline,” a family member said.


Neighbours have expressed shock and grief, offering prayers and support to the bereaved family as they mourn the loss of a promising young life.
