We Were Groomed to Defend Him - Cascio Siblings Speak Out on Michael Jackson 

A group of siblings who were once closely linked to Michael Jackson have come forward with fresh allegations, saying their childhood relationship with the late singer was marked by abuse and manipulation.

In a detailed interview published April 24, four members of the Cascio family, Aldo, Eddie, Dominic and Marie Nicole, described what they say was a deeply complicated and troubling bond with the global music icon. 

The claims form part of an ongoing legal battle with Jackson’s estate.

The siblings said their connection to Jackson began through their father, who worked in a New York hotel frequently visited by the star. 

Over time, the relationship grew closer, with the children spending extended periods at Jackson’s Neverland Ranch, sometimes without their parents.

They now allege that beyond the abuse, they were conditioned to defend him publicly. 

“We were brainwashed, we were groomed,” Eddie said, explaining that they felt pressure to stand by Jackson whenever accusations surfaced. 

For years, both before and after his d!ath, the family publicly denied any wrongdoing by the singer, including during a television appearance following his passing.

“He made us feel like he was everything,” Eddie added. “A friend, a father figure, emotional support, and he was.”

Not all of the siblings arrived at the same understanding at the same time. Some said they began questioning their experiences earlier, while others pointed to the 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland as a turning point that forced them to reassess their past.

Their legal dispute with the estate dates back several years. In 2020, the family reached a settlement reportedly worth about $16 million, paid over time. 

Once those payments concluded in 2025, negotiations for further compensation broke down, pushing the matter into public litigation.

One sibling, Frank Cascio, has not joined the lawsuit. In his 2011 book, he described his experiences with Jackson in positive terms and denied any misconduct involving himself or his family.

The estate has strongly rejected the new allegations. Attorney Marty Singer dismissed the claims as a calculated attempt to secure more money, pointing to the family’s long history of defending Jackson.

“The family staunchly defended Michael Jackson for more than 25 years,” he said, adding that their current position contradicts earlier statements, including interviews and written accounts. 

He further described the lawsuit as an attempt to extract large sums from an estate that continues to generate significant revenue.

The legal situation remains active. Earlier this year, a judge indicated that the 2020 agreement could limit the siblings’ ability to pursue new claims, though a final ruling on that issue has not yet been made.

The renewed attention arrives at a moment when Jackson’s legacy is again in focus, with a major biopic release drawing both praise and criticism, particularly over its handling of past controversies.
