88 means everything - Michael J. Fox reflects on Christopher Lloyd and a full-circle moment

Michael J. Fox took a quiet moment to reflect on friendship, film history, and a number that fans of Back to the Future will never forget.

Speaking at the A Country Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s event in Nashville, the actor pointed out something that instantly clicked for longtime viewers.

His co-star and close friend Christopher Lloyd is turning 88 this year, the exact number tied to one of the film’s most iconic details.

In the movie, the DeLorean only time travels when it hits 88 miles per hour. For Fox, the connection feels special without needing much explanation.

He recently shared a photo of the two of them enjoying a relaxed meal together. The caption leaned into the nostalgia, noting Lloyd’s upcoming age and playfully referencing the film’s legacy. Lloyd joined in the fun, replying with a familiar line from the movie, “Man, that’s heavy.”

Fox spoke warmly about their recent time together. “We had dinner a few days ago,” he said.

“He mentioned turning 88, and honestly, he’s doing great. He’s still one of the most youthful people I know.”

The moment came during an event tied to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which continues to push forward in the fight against Parkinson’s.

The Nashville gathering marked a strong run of fundraising efforts, bringing in over $3.5 million across recent events, with support from names like Willie Geist and Eric Church.

Even with his advocacy work, Fox has kept a steady presence in entertainment. His recent role in Shrinking has drawn attention, and he seems genuinely excited about what lies ahead.

Asked if he would return to the show, he did not hesitate. “Oh, absolutely,” he said. “I love working with that team, and it’s been such a great experience.”
