A 2-year-old Missouri child was sadly swept away after falling in the St. Francis River.

This heartbreaking incident occurred on Saturday, May 2nd. According to reports, the child had fallen into the river from a boat dock in Fisk, Missouri. After falling in the water, the child was immediately swept away by the river's current.

The 911 call went out at approximately 3:58 p.m., and deputies with the Butler County Sheriff's Office immediately responded along with Butler County Ambulance and Fire Department.

Multiple agencies would eventually arrive on the scene to assist in the search for the child. Search operations continued for hours despite difficult conditions but were ultimately suspended due to unsafe conditions on the water.

However, crews were back out at daybreak on Sunday, May 3rd.

Sadly, the child was recovered in 30 feet of water around 200 yards downstream from the boat dock at approximately 11:05 a.m.
