 Senator Sunday Karimi has raised concerns over the growing incidence of kidnapping and banditry in Kogi State, describing abductions as a daily occurrence in the state. Karimi made the remarks on Wednesday during plenary while contributing to a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari on the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Ogbomoso. The lawmaker said kidnapping and banditry have become major security challenges threatening the stability of the country, stressing that responsibility for addressing the menace should not rest solely on the Federal Government. According to him, bandits invaded Ayedun Bunu, a community in Kogi West Senatorial District, in the early hours of Monday and abducted 28 residents.  Anambra Assembly Confirms 16 Commissioner Nominees, Charges them to Drive Soludo’s Development Agenda

The Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed sixteen commissioner nominees forwarded by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, with the lawmakers charging them to align fully with the administration’s Solution Agenda and intensify efforts toward the development of the state.


Announcing the confirmation after plenary in Awka, the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Somtochukwu Udeze, urged the newly confirmed commissioners to prioritize people-oriented policies and contribute meaningfully to the transformation of their respective ministries.


Rt. Hon. Udeze congratulated the appointees and called on them to justify the confidence reposed in them by Governor Soludo and the people of Anambra State through dedicated service, infrastructural advancement and improved welfare for citizens.


The Speaker emphasized that the present administration remains committed to both infrastructural and human capital development, stressing that the commissioners must work collaboratively to actualize the government’s vision for the state.


Earlier, the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the House Committee on Screening, Chukwuma Okoye, disclosed that the sixteen nominees successfully demonstrated competence, experience and readiness to serve during the screening exercise.


According to him, the committee found the nominees qualified for their respective portfolios and subsequently cleared them on merit.


Those confirmed by the House include Dr. Ben-Chuks Ozoemena for Agriculture, Mr. Chukwukadibia Okoye for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Udorji Amedu for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Dr. Ekene Ogugua for Education, Dr. Clems Aguiyi for Environment, Dr. Afam Obidike for Health. Dr. Law Mefor for Information and Value Reformation, and Prof. Offonze Amucheazi for Lands.


Others are Barr. Vin Ezeaka for Local Government and Community Affairs, Prof. Charles Ofoegbu for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barr. Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Casmir Chinenye Agu Madu for Power, Arc. Okey Ezeobi for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Eddy Ibuzor for Transportation, Mrs. Esther Onyekesi for Women Affairs and Social Development, as well as Mr. Patrick Aghamba for Youth Development and Sports.


Speaking on behalf of the confirmed commissioners, Dr. Law Mefor, commissioner for Information expressed appreciation to the lawmakers for the confidence reposed in them and assured the House that they would justify their appointments through effective service delivery and commitment to the progress of Anambra State.
