From the House of Assembly Awka, May 8, 2026. The Anambra State House of Assembly got a new life between May 7 and 8 as it held the screening of the commissioner nominees, 18 in number, which was sent to the state assembly by Governor Chukwuma Soludo for confirmation.
The candidates who faced the Chairman of the screening committee and Deputy Speaker of the 8th legislature, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye and his members have all scaled through the screening process successfully with none disqualified or found wanting.
Chairman of the screening committee speaking on the exercise said that the two-day screening exercise was very tasking. He noted that the committee did a good job in scrutinizing the nominees so as to ascertain their suitability for their offices and readiness to work for the state.
According to him, the commissioner nominees were persons of impeccable character and integrity, whom he believes will not fall short of expectations of the citizenry in their new assignments.
"The governor looked well to pick these ones, they are befitting round pegs in the expected round holes," he said.
