 "If your husband slaps you down and you call the cops, you are evil" – Pastor calls women evil for calling police on their husbands A pastor has sparked outrage after describing women who call the police when physically assaulted by their husbands as "evil" and accusing them of harming their spouses. In a sermon, the pastor said a woman who reports her husband to the police after he slaps her is doing something wicked. He criticised Cassandra McMurtry, a pastor's wife, for advising women experiencing physical abuse to seek help and report it to the authorities. The pastor described the advice as "unbiblical trash" and argued that women should remain with their husbands even when they are bad spouses, citing biblical teachings on submission and marriage.  ANAMBRA POLICE ARRESTS A SUSPECT OVER ALLEGED ABDUCTION, RAPE AND UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARM, RECOVERS PISTOL AND LIVE AMMUNITION


Anambra Police Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, in the early hours of 16th May 2026, acting on credible information, stormed an identified hideout in Umuike Community, Awka, and arrested one Okechukwu Chinweko, male, aged 30 years,  popularly known as bullet,” over alleged involvement in a case of abduction, rape, and unlawful possession of firearm. The suspect's arm had a tattoo inscription: “Bullet” boldly written.


During the operation, the Operatives recovered one locally fabricated Beretta pistol and eight 9mm live ammunition. 


Preliminary information reveals that the suspect was positively identified in connection with an incident that occurred on 2nd May 2026, where he allegedly abducted and raped a female victim before Police Operatives rescued her. The victim was found with varying degrees of injuries on her body, while he fled the scene.


The Anambra State Police Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and bringing perpetrators of crime to justice, no matter how long it takes.


The case shall be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigative proceedings.
