Beneficiaries of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) in Anambra State have formally endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office and donated the sum of ₦10,735,500 towards the purchase of his expression of interest form.
The students said the endorsement and donation were in appreciation of the positive impact of the NELFUND scheme in improving access to higher education and reducing financial burdens on Nigerian students.
The declaration was made on Friday during a presentation at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam campus. Addressing the gathering, Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council in Anambra State, Ifeanyichukwu Chukwuemeka, described the gesture as a show of gratitude for President Tinubu’s educational reforms and youth-focused policies.
“We, the beneficiaries of the NELFUND scheme, are collectively endorsing President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office,” Chukwuemeka said.
“This is in recognition of the transformative impact of NELFUND on access to higher education and the alleviation of financial burdens for Nigerian students. We are also donating the sum of ₦10,735,500 to support the purchase of the expression of interest form for him.”
He added that the donation is “a symbolic expression of gratitude for the President’s bold educational reforms, youth-oriented policies, and commitment to expanding access to tertiary education opportunities across the nation.”
The students also expressed appreciation to Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for his support for students and efforts towards improving education standards in the state.
They further commended businessman Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana and South-East Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, for his contributions to youth empowerment. Special praise was given to the State Women Leader of the group, Adaora Soludo, and State Coordinator, Nonso Ozoemena, for their roles in youth mobilisation and leadership development.
Among those present at the event were former Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on Student Matters, Okoye Mathew, and several Student Union Government presidents.
