Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  APC Senatorial Aspirants In Kaduna Sign Peace Pact Ahead Of Party Primaries


Senatorial aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the three senatorial zones of Kaduna State have signed a peace pact ahead of the party’s forthcoming primaries, pledging to ensure peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral processes.


The peace pact signing ceremony was held at the Kaduna State Police Headquarters and brought together prominent APC stakeholders, aspirants, and party representatives from across the state.


Among those present at the meeting were Distinguished Senator Danjuma Tella La’ah, Amb. Yerima Usman Shettima, Hon. Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani (Ciroman Rigachikun), Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, Ibrahim Khalid Mustapha, and Engr. Dr. Michael Ayuba Auta, alongside several other APC aspirants and political leaders.


During the engagement, the aspirants collectively reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful conduct before, during, and after the primary elections. 


They also pledged to uphold democratic principles, promote issue-based campaigns, and maintain mutual respect throughout the political process.


The stakeholders strongly condemned violence, intimidation, hate speech, and all forms of political conflict capable of undermining party unity and democratic stability in Kaduna State.


They further commended the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their proactive role in sustaining peace and ensuring a conducive political atmosphere ahead of the APC primaries.
