Britney Spears has had claims about a recent dinner outing firmly rejected by her representative, who says reports circulating online were exaggerated and inaccurate.
In a statement released on May 14, Spears’ rep responded to accounts describing the singer as “erratic” during a meal the night before, insisting the situation was misrepresented.
“Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard,” the statement said, adding that she was simply talking about her dog barking at neighbours during the conversation.
The representative also addressed claims that Spears was seen holding a knife in a concerning way, saying the object was only used while eating.
“At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife,” the statement explained. “She was cutting her hamburger in half.”
The rep further criticised how the incident was being portrayed, saying the narrative was unfair and reminiscent of past media coverage.
“This constant attack on everything that she does is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person,” the statement added. “This is ridiculous and it needs to stop now.”
Earlier reports had suggested Spears dined at Blue Dog Tavern in Sherman Oaks on May 13, where some witnesses claimed she appeared emotional and vocal during the evening. Those accounts were shared through various entertainment outlets and social media posts.
One journalist also claimed online that he had been seated nearby during the dinner, later describing the experience as intense and unusual, though these remarks were not independently verified.
The conflicting accounts emerged shortly after Spears posted on Instagram about what she described as a “spiritual journey.”
In the post shared on May 9, she reflected on visiting a pet store and holding a baby snake, describing it as symbolic and meaningful in her personal outlook.
Spears also wrote about gratitude, self-reflection and learning to be kinder to herself, describing her recent experiences as part of a broader emotional journey.
