Brooke Shields was 'sick to her stomach' after daughter, 23, was cast on reality TV show
Brooke Shields admitted she was uneasy when she learned her 23-year-old daughter Rowan Henchy had been cast in Bravo’s Next Gen NYC.
Speaking on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, the 60-year-old actress confessed the news initially made her “sick to her stomach.”
Shields explained that while she was wary of Rowan entering the entertainment industry, she recognized that reality television is a different landscape compared to her own rise to fame in the 1980s.
Shields revealed she advised Rowan, who has aspirations in broadcast journalism, to treat the opportunity as a professional stepping stone.
She encouraged her daughter to be “the voice of reason” on the show and to use the experience to build confidence and open doors for future opportunities.
Despite her initial reservations, Shields said she has enjoyed seeing Rowan grow more self-assured since filming began.
The actress, who shares Rowan and her younger daughter Grier with husband Chris Henchy, also reflected on her parenting style and her own career.
Shields noted that she once banned her daughters from modeling as minors, recalling her own early experiences in the spotlight with Blue Lagoon and Calvin Klein campaigns.
She emphasized that the industry has changed, but she continues to guide her daughters with caution while celebrating their independence.
